How to Get Six Pack Abs The Right Way
So I’m at 24hr fitness in San Ramon and between sets I’m staring at the TV and see another lame ab machine on the TV touting “how to get a set of six pack abs” the easy way. Hence now this article…So from my experience over 20 plus years as a personal trainer it seems there are two types of scams that never go away on getting a six pack. First is the gizmo that will work magic on your abs and next up is the pill that will give you a six pack. The ads are always the same too…show a fat person, then show the same person with a six pack.
So why am I telling you this. I want you to forget the idea that there is some magic to getting a six pack abs. Granted genetics plays a role but whats really involved in sculpting the perfect set of ab muscles never change. When I tell you it may come as a huge revelation or maybe it wont. The fact remains there is a straightforward system that works every time…over time.
What? Did you think there was a shortcut?
If this has been a goal or dream for you , I encourage you to get dedicated and put some disciple in your life to do it. Because once you know what to do there are no more excuses. So here we go and listen to what I am telling you very carefully. Diet + Exercise= Fit Sexy Body. So now the cats out of the bag sort o speak. Let me break it down for you.
The diet part is actually simple; you need to eat in a way that makes your body drop body fat to the point where you are happy with how you look. You have probably never heard it put this way before. But I can tell you having looked and worked with all types of bodies from professional athletes to realtors everybody is different. So 15% body fat on Gina who is 6’6 may be fine. but if Gina were 4,6 then Houston we have a problem. Do you kinda see that. There is more to it than I can cover here so for sake of briefness lets continue…

Six Pack Jack!
As you probably know from reading other posts of mine or one of my ebooks, I know that people eat too many carbohydrates, the wrong proteins, and don’t get enough sleep. Generally the only diet I endorse is a form of the paleo diet I will talk about later. I believe that balance is the key and if you stay away from anything man made or processed you will do fine. I will cover specifics later.
But now for exercise.
this is where most of you fail and end up in front of me or another personal trainer with the Jay I’m doing everything right but no six pack…wa wa wa:) Seriously to get a set of six pack abs you will have to do two things; get in the correct kind of cardio to increase your metabolism and blow torch the fat and do the right kind of ab exercises. Yep there are good and plain ridiculous ab exercises.
Now as far as cardio exercise you must use variety and intervals correctly to maximize your effort and fat burning. This is critical and the difference between good and great results. I will cover the variables later on down the road like, how much , how long, and when, etc. For now lets continue and talk…
ABS..Basically your abs are the six pack muscles and your muscles called the rectus abdominus. I break them up into upper, middle, and lower and have specific exercises to target

each area. The best exercise for your abs tho that hits all areas and is a good beginner….sit-ups done correctly do wonders for the tummy. If you are not doing situps currently try this do 6 sets of 10-20 reps before your workout every other day for 6 weeks. Once you can do this like its no big deal then up the anti by holding a 10lb dumbbell on your upper chest and do 6 sets of 10-20 reps for another 6 weeks and after this you will see what I’m talking about….provided you are eating correctly too.
If you follow this plan you will see results and depending on how much body fat you need to lose you can see those lovely bumps appearing quite nicely on your tummy called your ab muscles. The other great thing about strengthening your abs besides looking great is that strengthening your abs can help your back and your overall posture.
